TikTok India Releases Official Statement Over It's Ban; To Meet Government Stakeholders To Issue A Clarification
Yesterday, the Government of India announced the blocking of 59 Chinese Apps including TikTok. The app that allowed its users to make short-mobile videos is very popular among the youth. In fact, many have made their career out of it and have become TikTok sensations by garnering massive followers. However, the Government of India has decided to put a ban on the app following the privacy concerns and the mounting tension at the Indo-China border. Now, TikTok India has released a statement saying that they give high importance to user privacy and won't share the data with anyone.

The Head of TikTok India has issued a statement saying that a meeting has been fixed with Government stakeholders so that they can respond to the ban and give their clarification. In the statement, Nikhil Gandhi - The Head of TikTok, India has also mentioned that the livelihood of many is dependent on the app and that they do not provide any user information to the neighbouring country.

A part of the statement reads, "TikTok has democratized the internet by making it available in 14 Indian languages, with hundreds of millions of users, artists, story tellers, educators and performers depending on it for their livelihood, many of whom are first time internet users."


As per the reports, the Government has issued an 'interim' ban on these apps and that they will be given a chance to respond. Apart from TikTok, apps like ShareIt, WeChat, Shein and others have also been banned. These apps have been removed from the Play Store and Apple Store for as of now.
